ADS8588S: replace AD7606 with ADS8588,but can not get the exact code

Part Number: ADS8588S

Dears:

My customer is  using AD7606 in FTU board,But the code I measured the AD8588 was floated between 4000 and 4500,the exact code is 5000, so i want to know what should we test and figure out the problem? I am eager to get some advice from you, thanks.

  • Hi Michael,

Can you please upload your customer's schematic? also let us know what your input signal is, how you did the test with more information, thanks.

    Best regards

    Dale

  • Dears:

I have uploaded the ADS8588 schematic, as for input signal,AC  50Hz from 10KV power line  through transformer, test signal is constant current and voltage, generally, after conversion of ADC, the output digital code should not change too much.

  • Hi Michael,

Your connections for ADC is correct (I guess R11 is not installed). Are there any RC filters or other devices on V1~V8 input? At least RC LPF filter can significantly filter the noise from PT/CT, which is very common to be used.

  • dear:
there are RC filter and magenetic bead on V1-V8 input channels, I don't know if the value of these passive components can affect the result of ADC conversion, I have suggested cusotmer to test the power ripple, and waiting the result, additionally they use the internal referance in this case and only have 1 piece of ADS8588 on the board.could you give me some advice how to figure out the problem?

  • Hi Michael,
I apologized for late response. It depends on the noise from front-end, the lower cut-off frequency of RC filter will filter more noise, what's input signal for the test? please share output conversion code for both AD7606 and ADS8588S (same DC input)? the entire schematic and pcb layout will be helpful to address the issue. Thanks.

    Best regards
    Dale
