DAC3482EVM: Using DAC348x GUI

Part Number: DAC3482EVM

1. What is the effect of "NCO freq_AB" as we are not seeing any change in the output fft waveform by changing it?

2. What is the effect/function of NCO DDS AB?

3. What is the use of the button on the right side of "Enable NCO update freq" as by clicking on it "NCO DDS AB" changes accordingly?

  • Hey Mayank,

NCO freq_AB value is the frequency at which the Numerically Controlled Oscillator shifts the base-band signal coming out of channel A & B. In order for this to work you need to enable the "digital mixer" & the "NCO frequency update" box, which i have seen you have done. Make sure to enter the sampling frequency of the DAC where it says F_SAMPLE. Once all of the values are correct, the button to the right side of "Enable NCO update freq" is what actually updates the NCO, causing it to execute the changes you have made to its settings. You must click this button every time you change any of the NCO settings in order to see the effects take place. After clicking NCO update, toggle the SIF SYNC button and you should see the desired output frequency. NCO DDS AB is just register value that represents the current NCO frequency you have entered. This should update automatically when you type in the fill out the NCO_FreqAB box so you do not have to worry about touching the NCO DDS AB box.

    Regards,
