DAC3484EVM: Differential output possible?

Part Number: DAC3484EVM

Hey TI Community,

I'm new in this whole DAC world, so I hope I'm right here with my questions.
We need a 16bit 4 channel DAC with differential outputs for controlling electric engines. Because of a short time plan we can't design our own board, so the best solution will be a evaluation module. The requirements are not very high, the sample rate is 500kHz maximum. We want to connect the EVM with a Opal Kelly XEM7350 board, because it has a FMC-HPC connector and we can easily communicate with it via sofware.
Make this set up sense or is there a DAC-EVM which is better for this task? According to the pictures of this board the analog outputs are not differential. Is it possible to add the analog outputs for a differential signal or are they grounded?

Thank you for your support, best regards

Michael

  • There is an option to modify the DAC3484EVM board for differential output. It requires modifying some jumper resistors and placing the additional SMA connector and removing the transformers. The design package on the product page includes the schematics and will illustrate the transformer bypass option.
