DAC37J82EVM: DAC37J82EVM

Part Number: DAC37J82EVM

Comrades, We purchased two of the DAC37J82EVM boards and a TSW14J56EVM. Using DAC3XJ8X GUI v1.1 & HS Data Convertor Pro v4.80. When running the Quick Setup the first board programmed and ran the demo once, but then wouldn't work again. The 2nd board did the same? Any ideas? Do you definitely need USB 3.0 for the TSW? I believe the PC I'm using on only has USB 2.0. The LMK and the TSW seems to program fine, but the DAC tool reports the PLLs unlocked, though I can see they are lock per the LEDs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

I would recommend you double check the power supply current if possible. See if you can notice any current changes between start-up and fully programmed by the GUI.
Each PC can only connect to one DAC37J82EVM by default. The default USB ID is the DAC3xJ8xEVM. If you have two EVMs connected to the same PC, the GUI will not be able to recognize one vs the other, and may program the sequence to the wrong EVM

the TSW14J56 should work with USB2.0, even though it is using USB 3.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible. You may not be able to dump out data as fast as possible from the PC to the TSW14J56 with USB2.0 bus.

the PLL alarm needs to be cleared before checking. There is a clear PLL and check PLL button to help you narrow down the PLL status.

  • I'm only connecting one DAC board to the PC.

  • I figured it out this morning! You need to configure the DAC first, as the DAC tool resets the TSW board, then configure the TSW board and send the file. This is opposite of the Quick Start instructions. Interestingly though, it seemed to work per the Quick Start instructions the first time I powered up, but wouldn't after that. Not sure why!
