ADS1258EVM-PDK: alternative to ADS1258EVM for evaluation of ADS1258 performance, using Windows10 host PC.

Part Number: ADS1258EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADCPRO

Hello TI data converts support:

I have had no success in getting the "ADCpro" SW up&running neither on my Windows10-based workstation,

nor on a WindowsXP machine. The "ADCpro" SW seem to be completely outdated (last release in 2012),

and the MMB0 motherboard/carrier for the ADS1258EVM daughter-board has no functional USB driver

(will not install on Win10, does not work on WinXP)

IN short, we have given up on "ADCpro" application, and the question is:

is there an alternative to ADS1258EVM (and "ADCpro" SW), either from TI or 3rd party vendor(s)??

Hopefully, such an alternative would be cross-platform also, running on at least modern WindowsOS(=Win10) and Linux.

TIA

  • Morten,

I noticed your other post first, and then saw this one. We don't have any other in-house platforms run the EVMs. I've used a Total Phase Aardvark to run basic commands to different ADCs, but the results are a bit clunky. I can get some basic data with it but can't run interrupts to get data out of it based on a transition of /DRDY.

While I don't think that ADCPro would work on Win10, It should work with Win7 and XP. I still use ADCPro regularly. Going back to your XP installation, what wasn't working? Was it an MMB0 driver issue? If so, you can find some here to install:

    ftp.ti.com/.../

Regardless, it would help to show the steps for your installation and error messages.

  • Hi Joseph,

the MMB0 USB-driver seem to work (registers correctly etc.)

It is possible to start upload of new firmware to the platform,

which also seem to complete successfully.

However, as soon as new firmware has been uploaded,

the USB-device(=target/MMB0) is disconnected, and all communication is lost.

I can try to provide more detail, but it's not much more to it than that...

    Any ideas?

  • Morten,

I pulled up my version of ADCPro and checked how it started up with the device manager. When I first plug in the device, and apply power from an external source, I get this window:

Once I start up the plugin, the DSP is flashed and the board re-enumerates to this:

Note that I did have some problems with the MMB0 driver. If the driver isn't up to date, I still got the first window. However, it would timeout after starting the plugin load.

I had to download the MMB0 driver from here (using the 64bit version):

    ftp.ti.com/.../
