TLC7524: About Voltage Mode Operation

Genius 4155 points

Hi,

I'd like to know about following 2 questions,

1. There's a difference between functional block diagram( on D/S page2)  and figure 1(on D/S page5),

In figure 1, there's a "R" at REF input , but in  functional block diagram, can't see "R" at that point.

     Which one is correct?

2.  for Voltage Mode Operation, is it possible to set Vcc and the Voltage on OUT1 to same voltage?

or should we set the Voltage on OUT1 to half of Vcc as described in test condition? ( D/S page 5)

Thanks,

Go

  • Go,

The block diagram on page 2 is correct.

There are a few different options for operating in "voltage output mode". One of them is using the DAC sort of backwards to a typical MDAC application, which is shown on Page 5 that you mentioned. I wrote an application note discussing the limitations / implications which you can view here: www.ti.com/.../tiduaf0.pdf

What is the output range you want to realize? Do you have dual supplies available?

From there perhaps I can suggest an approach.
