Hi,

I have installed the delta sigma software, drivers, and the device package for the ADS114S08EVM. I get a message in the status bar saying that it is unable to identify device then says hardware connected. I cannot get anything for the register map. Here's a snapshot:

Any advice on how to fix this?

Hi Raul,

Welcome to the E2E forum! It appears that the ADS114S08EVM device package did not install properly. The installation requires two downloads and installs. The first is the main application (Delta-Sigma ADC EvaluaTIon Software) and must be installed first. The second is the device package (ADS114S08EVM-DVCPKG) found on the ADS114S08EVM web page. Make sure that you have downloaded the correct device package (there is also the ADS124S08EVM device package and they look very similar). I would try reinstalling the device package.

You can verify if the device package installed correctly by searching in the 'Documents' folder. You should see a subfolder in:

Documents\DSEvalSW\Devices\ADS114S08

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the response, the device package was being saved in a different place than I expected. I just moved the DSEvalSW to the documents folder. Everything seems to be working as expected.

Hi Bob,

I have similar issue with ADS114S08. PC does not see the board although I installed the software first and then the device package. I restarted my PC e few times as well. Is there anything else I should check?

Hi Fatih,
Do you see the same blank screen and hardware connected icon, or something different?

What version of windows are you using? Go to Control Panel -> Device Manager and make sure that TivaWare Bulk Device is displaying. If it does not show up, then the driver installation did not take place.

Depending on the answers above we can dig deeper.

Hi Bob,

It shows "Hardware Not Connected. Ready..." at the bottom left of the main page.

I am using windows 7.

Device manager shows as Generic Bulk device not exactly as TivaWare Bulk Device. Apparently, the driver installation did not take place properly.

Do you have any suggestion to install the driver properly?

Hi Fatih,

The driver is apparently installed properly. The EVM is not being recognized either because the wrong device package was loaded, or it was installed in a location different than where the software is expecting it.

Can you show me the screen you see? Did you start the program before plugging in the EVM to USB or after? If you plug the EVM in after you start the software, try plugging in the EVM first and then start the software.

In the software user's guide follow the instructions to enable the console shown in section 5.3.1 on page 12.

The console tab allows for individual commands and will show the ID of the device connected. Also send me a screen shot of what is shown in the console tab.

The screen that I see is below. I pugged the EVM first as you suggested but still did not work. I also enabled the console as you can see in the second picture that I attached.

Hi Fatih,

I was a little confusing to you. Once you click OK, go to the CONSOLE tab in the GUI and take a screen shot there. Also tell me what you see in the devices folder in this location:

C:\Users\fatihcingoz.CEP\Documents\DSEvalSW\Devices

Hi Fatih,

Can you go to the Console tab and try unplugging and plugging back in the EVM and let me see what shows on the screen? Also, can you go to device manager and show me a screen shot of where the device is showing as generic USB bulk?

Hi Fatih,

The device manager appears to acknowledge the device is a USB bulk device, but it appears to be in error. I would suggest trying to install the drivers again by running the appropriate driver installer for your operating system (x86 for 32-bit and x64 for 64-bit). The driver installers are located in the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\DSEvalSW\Drivers\Installers

It may also be possible to manually update the driver from device manager by browsing to the location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\DSEvalSW\Drivers

Now, the EVM is connected. Thanks for your help.

I need your help also on data collection. I am trying to collect data using predefined script (3-wire RTD) and the register map is as below. First, I run the script by clicking the RUN button and then I clicked Collect Data button in Data Analysis but I do not see any data on the screen. I also attached the picture of my hardwire setup. Could you please help me on this issue as well. Thanks in advance...
