ADC3424: Single Differential conversion circuit

Part Number: ADC3424

Hello,

I would like you to confirm about below.

* According to user's guide of EVM, there is following description.

A dual transformer input circuit is used for better phase and amplitude balance of the input
signal than would typically be produced by a single transformer input circuit.

To obtain good phase and amplitude, TI recommend to use dual transformer. However, Tranformer is a little expensive. So, I think that we can use one better performance tranformer instead of dual tranformer.

If user use transformer with same spec as "ADT1-1WT", do you recommend dual transformer for user ?

(I'm not sure how user decide single or dual transformer..)

Best Regards,

  • Ryuuichi,

If the transformer has very good phase and amplitude balance, the customer probably could use only one transformer. If this part has the same footprint as the ADT1-1WT, the user could install this in place of the first transformer on the ADC34xxEVM, then remove the second transformer and short out the pads to make a connection, then run a test to see if this part will work as is for their application.

    Regards,

    Jim
