ADS1292RECG-FE: ADS1292RECG-FE Respiration data is not right.how to setup the software to solve this problem?

Hello, I am using the board of ADS1292RECG-FE of your company. I have not developed the board myself. Use the bought ADS1292R circuit board, the computer installs the software, the software is downloaded from the TI website, after installation, the Device ID: ADS1292R; Fireware Version: 1.12; GUI: 1.11; the software installation is completed, and the USB to MINI-USB cable is connected. ADS1292R circuit board and computer, no lead wire, found that the software is collected, the ECG is zero, but the breathing reaches 80 ~ 130 (the photo as below), it is reasonable to say that there is no lead wire, ECG and breathing should not be zero? How to set up the software or what measures can be taken to eliminate respiratory interference? Breathing should be zero when there is no test. There is only the circuit schematic of ADS1292 in ADS1X9XECG-FE User manual. Where can I find the circuit schematic of ADS1292R? The ADS1292R tests ECG and breathing at the same time. Isn't it the 9-core 4-lead lead wire on page 40 of the manual? What kind of lead wire is used, what is the specification of the lead wire? Please reply as soon as possible, thank you very much!

    Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum!

    Without an ECG input applied there will be still be noise on the inputs from other circuitry on the board, the lights, and the power mains. The software is simply trying to calculate the respiration rate from the noise on the inputs of the ADC. You can see that the magnitude of this signal is very small. If the inputs of the ADC were grounded when ECG is not applied then the respiration rate would also show zero.

    I believe that the schematic on page 51 of the user's guide is indeed the ADS1292R although it appears to be mislabeled in the bottom right corner. I will make a note to edit this. Pin 31 & 32 of the device show the respiration channels.

    The lead wire on page 40 of the user's guide is an acceptable choice. We do not have a specific set of specifications for the lead wire as it is the responsibility of the designer to choose.
  • How to set up ADS1292R software can reduce noise interference? As shown below, I used the 9-core 4-lead ECG lead wire to test the electrocardiogram of the mice. Although the respiratory data is about 100, the respiratory waveform shows that the voltage is only 0.01. Is this data not a real waveform? Is it noise interference? Also, when the mouse is tested, is the breathing control in the software Respiration control resgister set to internal breathing and internal clock or internal breathing and external clock? Is the right leg reference source selected internal or external?

    The ADS1292RECG-FE is not intended to be used outside of demonstrating the performance of the device. The software is provided to show an example implementation and the algorithms for calculating the heart and respiration rate are not as robust as they could be. The analysis tab will provide the raw data which can be used for your own analysis as well.

    These appear to be real waveforms and I do not see signs of excessive noise. I am not sure what the input voltage magnitude is, but in order to increase the voltage output you can increase the gain of the device.

    How you set up the clock and right leg reference source is up to you.
  • Heart rate Is there a range? Is the ADS1292R heart rate measurement range not more than 250? When I tested with a heart rate of 350, the software always showed 250, as shown below. Does the development board have a range of ECG and breathing? Thank you for your answer.

    I am not sure and the person who wrote the software has left the company.

    I will verify if I see the same on an EVM and let you know the results.

    I believe that the software is capped at an arbitrary value of 250 since humans cannot breath that fast.

    As I said previously this software is not robust and is only meant to demonstrate capability.
  • Can our company make hardware changes or software code changes on the basis of ADS1292R, so that the board system can test the animal's ECG breathing, so that the system range reaches 500 or more? Because I want to develop a set of ECG respiratory system for mice based on the ADS1292R development board. The electrocardiogram respiration rate of the mice is relatively high, requiring a large range to test the ECG respiratory parameters of the mice.     Many customers successfully use the evaluation boards as the starting point of their design, typically for human ECG. There is no reason why you cannot use the EVM as a starting point for a mouse ECG project, but you are the first customer I have talked to interested in mouse ECG!
