ADS8900BEVM-PDK: Precision Host interface connector

Part Number: ADS8900BEVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8900B, THS4551, REF5025

Hi Team,

The datasheet of ADS8900BEVM-PDK mentioned the header QTH-030-01-L-D-A is used to connect with Host(in ADS8900BEVM pcb). What is the mate connector part number which is placed in the PHI board?

Please help me to find the correct part.

Thanks,

  • Hi TI Team,

Can I use QSH-030-01-L-D-A as the mate connector for QTH-030-01-L-D-A? One of my colleague suggested this. Kindly confirm this.

I have few more doubts in the design of ADS8900BEVM PCB,

The datasheet says we can give external differential analog signal through J6.2 and J4.2. How can I give single ended signal to this ADC board? Should I design an analog front end circuit(Fig 111 in ADS8900B Datasheed) to convert into differential signal with suitable common mode voltage and give to the J6.2 and J4.2?

Please help me to understand. in my case the common mode voltage is 3.3V and the maximum voltage is 5V(rare case). I need to measure in High side, the drop is took across a 0.5Ohm sense resistor.

    Thanks,
  • Hi TI Team,
Can you please answer this question? Please help, its very urgent

    Thanks,
  • Hi Venkatesh,

The part number for the connector on the PHI controller side is QSH-030-01-L-D-A

    Best Regards,

    Luis

  • Hi Venkatesh,

I am checking on the exact part number of the connector used on the PHI interface board, but the QSH-030-01-L-D-A will work with the QTH-030-01-L-D-A connector used on the ADS8900EVM board.

The ADS8900BEVM is only designed to support balanced differential input signals. You will need to add an external circuit to convert from single-ended to differential. An FDA similar to Figure 111 would be one option.

  • Hi Luis, can u please read the question continuation and reply? Regarding the external analog signal to the evaluation board.

    Thanks,
  • Thank u Keith, exactly I also designed a small proto board from our consecutive earlier conversations... Datasheet saying like the board supports common mode voltages of 2.5 and 0v by J1 and J2. So I provided header options to choose 2.5v or 1.2v to THS4551 using Ref5025 and 20k-20k voltage divider configuration. I hope it would be ok...
Pls comment if anything should I concern
  • Hi Venkatesh,

Set the ADS8900BEVM board to 2.5V external common mode (J1 closed, J2 open). You will then want to set the external THS4551 to a common mode of 2.5V. If using a REF5025, you will want to connect this directly to the VOCM pin of the THS4551. If you would like a 2.5V/1.25V option, you can use the 20k-20k voltage divider and a jumper to select between the two options.
