Hi Team,

My customer is working on weight machine new project and looking for load cell total solution. Right now, they would like to look for if we have solution similar to AD7798. (http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ad7798_7799.pdf)

 

Customer key concerns are as below,

  • Single chip integrated SAR/Sigma-delta ADC and AMP

  • Output interface: SPI(4-Wire) or I2C(Need extra address bit)

  • Low power

  • More than 3 channels

 

I have checked ESP, it seems ADS1120 and ADS114S06 are the similar parts, but I would like to know if you have any suggestion. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Ellen,

    The ADS1120 only has 2 differential input pairs.  The ADS114S06 would be the better solution of the two, but this device only has 3 differential input pairs.  The ADS114S08 has 6 differential pairs.  So if the customer is using more than 3 load cells I would suggest the ADS114S08.

    Load cells are basically a Wheatstone bridge implementation where the output is measured differentially.  That is why I'm writing in terms of differential input pairs as opposed to single-ended input channels.
