ADS1235EVM: ADS1235EVM on 64 bit Win10 OS

Part Number: ADS1235EVM

Hi Team,

I received the following request, could you help?

###################################################

I have followed all the instructions in ADS1235EVM web page and documents. But below empty screens is not changed. I couldn’t use this product. Do you have any suggestion? I have 64 bit Win10 OS.

  • Hi Fabio,

Has the ADS1235EVM device package (ADS1235EVM-DVCPKG) been installed?

This can be downloaded from http://www.ti.com/tool/ads1235evm.

If the device package has been installed, then I would recommend trying to reinstall the EVM driver, using the MSI installer located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\DSEvalSW\Drivers\Installers\BulkUsb_driver_install_x64-v1.0.0.1.msi.

If neither of those two steps resolve the problem, would you be able to request the application log files found in the C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\Documents\DSEvalSW\Logs directory?

  • Hello,

My Windows accound is not in admin rights. When I start Delta-Sigma ADC Ev. Software in as administrator, it works properly.

    Thanks for your helps.

    BR,
    Yilmaz.

  • Hi Yilmaz,

I'm glad to hear that is is working for you now. Would you be so kind to let me know if you had to re-install any of the software with admin privileges to get it to work?

I know that installation may not take place if a user does not have admin privileges on Windows, but am not aware of any requirements to have admin privileges to run the Delta-Sigma Eval software.

We certainly don't intend to have this kind of a restriction to use our evaluation software.

  • The problem was related to admin privileges on Windows
  • Hi Chris,

The first problem was "Hardware Not Connected" even if I installed ADS1235EVM-dvcpkg.exe and DELTASIGMAEVAL-GUI-installer.exe. Then I read manuals and installed BulkUsb_driver_install_x64-v1.0.0.1.msi in C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\DSEvalSW\Drivers\Installers folder. After that, device is connected but registers couldnt be read. And I sent e-mail to Mr Soriano and then he opend this topic (thanks to him :) ).

When I start Delta-Sigma ADC Ev. Software in non-admin rights, it can connect to device but cannot read registers.

If I start Delta-Sigma ADC Ev. Software with admin rights, then it can read registers.

  • Hi Yilmaz,

Okay thank you for the additional information! I was not aware that admin privileges would have any effect while running this software.

If you would like me to continue investigating this issue further, would you be willing to share the application log files that are created when running the Delta-Sigma Eval software?

Log files can be found at C:\Users\<username>\Documents\DSEvalSW\Logs\applog.txt and C:\Users\<username>\Documents\DSEvalSW\Logs\debug.txt.

To make it easier for me to troubleshoot, please:

    1. Make sure the Delta-Sigma Eval application is closed and then delete these text files.
    2. Run the application without admin privileges, try to communicate with the device, then close the application and zip up the two log files.
    3. Delete the log files again.
    4. Re-run the application with admin privileges, try to communicate with the device, then close the application and zip up these log files again (and label this zip file somehow to indicate that you ran the application as an admin).
    5. Attach these log files to this E2E thread, or email them to pa_deltasigma_apps@ti.com

I understand if this is something you do not have time to do. I appreciate the information that you have already gone out of your way to provide to us. Thank you!
