DAC7760: about ACCURACY

Part Number: DAC7760

Hi,

I would like to ask you about the accuracy conditions in the electrical characteristics of the data sheet.

Although REFIN is described as 5V-external, is it OK to understand that 5V of the REFOUT output

is connected to the REFIN pin as described in the application figure 96?

Or is it 5V input from an external regulated power supply?

  • Hi,

The accuracy specification are defined as using an external reference to emphasize that the errors in the DAC accuracy specification are NOT including the errors in the accuracy of the DAC.  For example, we describe the gain error of the DAC in voltage mode as 0.08% MAX value at 25C, without reference error.  We describe the max value of the internal reference as 5.005V.  Given the ideal value of 5V, we can calculate the maximum gain error as 0.08% * 5.005V/5V = 0.08008%.

The error of the reference should scale the error of the DAC.

    Thanks,

    Paul
