TLA2022: TLA2021, TLA2024 I2C

Part Number: TLA2022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7142

Dear *,

Can we connect the I2C of TLA202x to 1.8V with pull-up?

Our system i2C is 1.8V, and we would like to avoid the level translator.

if no what low-cost ADC solution do you suggest that has 1.8V I2C communication?

Best Regards,

D.

  • Hi D.

yes, you can operate the I2C interface of TLA20x with pull-up resistors to 1.8V. However you need to calculate if your digital thresholds still meet the high and low levels on both the ADC and MCU side. If you operate the TLA202x with a 2V power supply, then this will be fine. But if you use a 3.3V supply for the TLA202x you will most likely not meet all thresholds anymore. So it depends on the supply voltage you want to use for the ADC.

The ADS7142 would be an alternative 12-bit ADC which directly supports 1.8V I2C interfaces.

    Regards,
