TSW14J57EVM: TSW14J57EVM

Part Number: TSW14J57EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE7686EVM

Hi,

I am trying to load an external pattern file in HSDCpro. The file is an LTE file with sample rate 491.52M ans the input data rate field in HSDCpro is also 491.52M. But still I cannot see the spectrum in spectrum analyzer . Also, in my case, I am using AFE7686EVM which has TSW14J57 as the data capture card for DAC. I dont know what is the problem. please help in order to resolve this issue. It is two column .tsw file with I and Q data.

Thanks & regards,

Debalina

What makes you think that the problem is with the TSW14J57 and not with the AFE768x EVM set-up?

It sounds like the LTE pattern is provided by TI since it is a .tsw format.  You must verify that the set-up of the AFE768x JESD mode matches the ini file that you loaded in HSDC Pro.  My initial guess is that you do not have the ini file (and hence the JESD mode) matching the set-up of the device.  If that is happening then you will not get an output spectrum.

  • Hi RJH

The ini file that is selected in HSDCpro is AFE76xx_2x2Tx_44210 and the data rate selected is 491.52MSPS. With this configuration, the AFEEVM set-up is running fine and I can see the output spectrum when I am using a test file from the HSDCpro test file folder. The test file is given by TI and it is a 20MHz LTE file. But my problem is that I cannot see any output spectrum when I am using my own LTE file (not given by TI) with the similar configuration i.e.  AFE76xx_2x2Tx_44210 as the selected firmware and  491.52MSPS as the input data rate (this corresponds to JESD rate of 9.83 Gbps). While loading my own  file, I can see the spectrum in HSDCPro , although spread over the entire bandwidth. But I cannot see any output in spectrum analyzer (the JESD LED is also not blinking which indicates that it is a JESD link problem). I am using 5 Mhz LTE oversampled to 491.52 MSPS . I think my file format and the file given by TI is different. Please help me to run my own file.

  • Ah-ha.

The .tsw format is a TI proprietary encrypted file.  If you are creating your own pattern file and using the .tsw extension then the program is not going to interpret the data correctly.  This is likely why you are seeing the spread spectrum on the output (essentially wideband noise) and not getting the pattern properly.

You do not need to use the .tsw extension.  You should be able to load the pattern in the proper format in a standard .txt file and then load it normally.

Alternatively, you can share your pattern data and configuration with TI and we can assist to put the file into the proper format.
