TX7316EVM: OFF-Chip Mode

Part Number: TX7316EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TX7316

Hi

I have a TX7316 Evaluation Board which i have setup in 3-level mode. When i run it in on-chip mode it has limited number of transitions(16)

allowed for pattern profile of a pulse. Basically i am interested in sending a chirp with quite a lot of cycles which is not possible i believe using on chip.

So i was wondering if i can run the off chip mode on that evaluation board using J11 Connector and if yes, what are the hardware changes i need to

perform to make it work. It says it has IN control signals connected to ground when in on-chip mode.

User guide doesn't describe much about off chip(just some switches in action) If i run off chip, does it mean i can directly talk with CPLD using

jtag connector.

  • Jatin,

thanks for using the TX7316! we understand the need of chirp waveform.

right now , off-chip BF mode has preset waveforms.  You can use the CPLD to control the off-chip beamformer. while you need to program the CPLD by your selfeves though.  You need to program the CPLD via J11 JTAG interface.

    Thanks!
