ADS1248: ADS1248 Testing as a single input analog signal

Part Number: ADS1248
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS124S08

Hi

I am using ADS1248 for RTD application testing with differential analog input channel.

But few channel out of AIN0~AIN7, i want to use single ended analog input signal. So how can i connect and use it on any PIN.?

  • Hi Sumit,

The ADS1248 has a common-mode input restriction for the PGA where when using a unipolar supply.  It is not possible to make single-ended measurements referenced to analog ground when using a unipolar supply (such as +3.3V or +5V).  To make single-ended measurements you must use bipolar supplies (+/-2.5V).

I would highly recommend using the ADS124S08 which is an update to the ADS1248 and allows the PGA to be bypassed for making single-ended measurements when using a unipolar supply.

    Best regards,

    Bob B

  • Hi Bob,

    Thanks to update.

It clear my all doubt. Due to non-availability of RTD i was trying to validate ADS1248 by single analog Pin even in unipolar supply.

Let me check your suggested part and will come back if there is any doubt related to new suggested part or ADS1248.
