ADS4129EVM: I would like to know the relationship between the sample rate of the ADC and the input clock frequency of the ADC

Part Number: ADS4129EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS4129, CDCE72010

1.I would like to know the relationship between the sample rate of the ADC and the input clock frequency of the ADC?  For example the  ADS4129,its max sample rate is 250MSPS,if i use it ,and can i use the 250Mhz frequency input clock as the ADS4129's input clock?

2.i readed the''ADS41xx EVM BOM and Schematic'',i find that you used the clock generator of CDCE72010 which  frequency is 1500MHZ as the ADS4129's input clock ,i would like to know why? Isn't it just right to use a 250Mhz clock generator? Why use a clock generator with such a high frequency?

ADS41xx EVM BOM and Schema

  • User,

For #1, the sample rate is the same as the input clock. You can use 250MHz as the input clock.

For #2, the CDCE72010 is a very clean clock generator. This is the main reason it was chosen for this design. If you plan on using it, just make sure the clock rate used is not above 250MHz.

    Regards,
