DAC8771: Linux driver for DAC8771

Part Number: DAC8771

We're going to use DAC8771. But we don't have much time on develop due to schedule reason.

is it any sample driver which is base on linux?

  • Hello Albert,

We have some Linux driver support, but primarily for our Audio DAC devices where the Linux environment is a bit more pervasive. In the PLC space, where I imagine the DAC8771 will find it's home most of the time, I have not seen as significant deployment of the Linux platform - as such our support here is limited and we do not have an existing driver for the DAC8771.

There is a centralized team which can help us source such things, but I will need to check with them concerning what the timing would look like to develop and deploy such a driver. I believe I am also supporting this for you via your local FAE but I will update both the FAE and this thread when I get any information on the topic.

By when do you require the driver?

  • We've set up the interface between MCU & ADC/DAC EVM.

Firmware engineer is building up the ADC first because there is a firmware sample code from TI website.

is it possible to get the 8771 firmware in 1week?

  • Albert,

Unfortunately my team lacks much Linux experience as we are primarily an analog team and, therefore, must depend on another organization to source any Linux firmware or drivers. I am told that the cycle time for them is typically 6-8 weeks but I have not yet received a reply on what looks to be realistic.

1 week would be a pretty big stretch, though.

  • Hi Albert,

This request is being supported outside of the E2E via your local FAE / Sales team. They should provide you an update if they haven't already.
