TLC2558: replace TLC2558 to TLV2548

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: TLC2558
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV2548

Hi Team,

My customer considers to replace TLC2558 to TLV2548 for existing their application because of delivery issue.
I was asked the following questions about Configuration Register.

1)
TLV2548 doesn't have blue part bits (D10 and D7 of TLC2558).
Is it possible to replace?
My customer set D10=0 and D7=0 for current TLC2558 application.

2)
TLV2548 has D10 (green part: internal reference voltage select) which TLC2558 doesn't have.
Which should my customer select 0 or 1 for this bit?
My customer use 5V power supply.

3)
My customer set D8=0 (red part) for current TLC2558 application.
Is there any concern if he use D(8,7)=00 (Conversion clock=internal OSC) for TLV2548?
I believe he should D(8,7)=01 for TLV2548 to replace however would like to confirm just in case.

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hi Yaita,

The TLC2558 has a 4V internal reference, so if you want to use the internal reference of the TLV2548, D10 has to be '0'.  D8 and 7 are used together on the TLV2548, so if you want to keep the same conversion speed, you have to set them to '01' to use SCLK as the conversion clock.  This is assuming the SCLK does not exceed the datasheet limits of the TLV2548.
