ADS8598H: Questions about Design tools

Part Number: ADS8598H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi team,

Could you give me comments on following customer questions?

<Customer question>

Q1. Can TI provide any tools for the customer to be able to simulate oversampling function? TINA-TI model of ADS8598H doesn't have OS[2:0] pins.

Q2. Does TI have calculation tools for ADS8598H that is similar to ADS1x7x Excel Calculator Tool?

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi team,

Could you give me any feedback on above customer questions?

    Best regards,

    Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi Takeshi,

The answers to your customer's questions:

A1.  We do not have a tool to simulate oversampling function for ADS8598H, what does the customer want to simulate or check?

A2. Unfortunately, we do not have this kind of calculation tool. ADS8598H does not have internal registers so there is no need to program it, the modes of operation(parallel/byte/serial), input range and reference, all of them can be selected with the hardware pins. Also, the BW of internal filter on each channel is fixed.

    Thanks&regards,

    Dale

  • Hi Dale,

Thank you for your comment. For your question of A1, I put customer's comment below. Could you give me comment?

    >what does the customer want to simulate or check?

The customer wants to check if oversampling of ADS8598H can simplify antialiasing filter. Using following TI tools provides the filter with 3 to 4 opeamps, R and C combination, but it causes the increase of footprint and price.

They've considered if the oversampling contributes such simplification, and want to confirm the characteristics at shown in datasheet page 48.

  • Hi Takeshi,

Unfortunately, we do not have this kind of excel or software calculation tool. The frequency response curves shown in Figure 78 - 83 in the datasheet were professionally characterized and verified.
