Strain gauge application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1262, ADS1263, ADS1235, ADS1260

Any difference  between using the ADS1263 and ADS1262?

  • Hi Dale,

The ADS1263 is basically the same as the ADS1262 except that there is an additional 24-bit ADC.  Based on your early question regarding strain gauges, I'm guessing you are considering the ADS1262/63 because of 32-bits.  Although the ADC can resolve to 32-bits, this doesn't mean you can actually achieve all 32-bits in the measurement result as noise will be a factor.  Noise can be a result of external influences as well as the noise of conversion.  For strain or load cell measurements you want to consider a stable, or noise-free, result.  For your application you may want to consider the ADS1235 or the ADS1260.  Both of these devices are low-noise 24-bit ADCs that offer good levels of performance.

    Best regards,
