ADS8866: Is there a Daisy chain connection AFE chip recommended?

Part Number: ADS8866
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA333, OPA836, OPA320

Hi  Friend:

        Is there a Daisy chain connection AFE chip recommended? thank you

  • Hello Tony,

    There are no special IC's required to connect the ADS8866 in a daisy chain configuration.  Figure 49 in the datasheet shows how to connect multiple devices to a single, standard SPI port on an MCU or other host processor.

    There are multiple input amplifier options depending on your sampling rate.

    A good option that will support the maximum data rate is the OPA320.  For a very low distortion option, the OPA836 can be used, as shown in Figure 53.  For low speed systems operating at 10ksps or less, the OPA333 provides excellent DC performance and very low power operation, per Figure 54.

  • Hi Tony,

    Thank you for your post.

    Please refer to Figure 49 for daisy-chain connection example. Section 9.4.2.1 on page 24 of the data sheet details how daisy-chain mode operates and the interface timing requirements.

    Best regards,

  • HI Ryan:

             Thank you for your reply;

    Maybe I want to know which IC can meet Daisy chain connection AFE.

    thank you

  • Hi Tony,

    There are no special AFE's for the ADS8866.  These devices can be driven by standard amplifiers, such as OPA320, OPA333, and do not require a SPI connection.
