AFE5832LPEVM: AFE5832LP EVM

Part Number: AFE5832LPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE58JD32EVM, AFE58JD32, AFE5832, THS4130, LMK04832, AFE5832LP

Its an  Academic research on : Various Beam forming algorithms in ultrasound.
My function is to implement some open portable DEMO : 32 channels receiver &Transmitters . Down convert using I&Q mixer , Analog filters for subNyquist sampling ( ability to control sampling frequency) .
We required only the raw data without any pre processing s .

We dont want to use the Doppler mode because there are  only 2 ADCs .

my request to insert 32 analog filters less than 1Mhz BW  for subnyquist DEMO .

The AFE58JD32EVM board has only 2 SMA outputs  I&Q mixers due to suming signals .
Please advise what kind of EVMs HW i need to implement 32 channels ,32  DOwnconvert ,32 analog filters , TGAs and 32 ADCs ?

Thanks

  • Moshe,

Thanks for interested in the TI device! look like you try to use the analog mixer and filter for the TGC path. this is not supported in typcial AFE EVMs.  our analog mixer path is mainly for the CW path, thus build in phase delay BF is included alreday and we only provide the summed signals.

if you have to use the analog mixer arch, then the only way is to build such a board. passive mixer from Mini-circuits could be an option. you can check there.

alternative, if you are OK with the digital mixer and  digital filter, then our AFE58JD32 device can service your needs. you will require a NDA through mysecuresoftware_medical@list.ti.com

    Hope this solves your problems!

  • Due to This research project , I must insert Analog LPF about 1Mhz BW .

I think to implement a new board which includes 32 LNAs + mixers for D. Convert + 32 Analog  FILTERs + buffers  and to connect it to the AFE5832 EVB using SMA cables .

    My request :

1 – what are the relevant LNAs  less than 1nv\sq_hz from Ti?

2 – suppose we use 7.5 Mhs prob . Analog BW of the signals are  1Mhz . I need some LO  of 8.5Mhz  for D.C to 1Mhz . do you think I can get it from the LMK0482x EVM ?

3 – Do you have better solution than described above.

    Thanks in advance

  • Moshe,

the noise of the LNA depends on the total gain. Higher gain, lower noise; higher gain lower input signal amplitude to avoid saturation.

you may consider THS4130 amplifier for 1nV noise amp. there may be more choices.

LMK0482x EVM may have limits for the low frequency output. i would suggest you post the particular question as a seperate thread in the LMK clock forum.  You might consider newer one like LMK04832 family

or you may consider to use the AFE5832LP EVM's LMK CW outputs . you may find a clock divider EVM to generate 8.5MHz signal if the lower limits of LMK chip exists.

    Thanks!

  • My request to get lower frequency about 2.5 Mhz  using the LMK04832.

At the BOM list of the LMK04832EVB  the VCOs frequencies are:  1- 800Mhz up to  1030Mhz         2 - 1800Mhz  up to 2200Mhz .

The schematics indicates that the basic VCO frequency in the PLL is 2942.19Mhz  using reference VCXO =122.88Mhz .

Each  of the 14 outputs  can be divided  by 1 up to 1023  . It means i can get  minimum  frequency of 2942.19\1024=2.87Mhz .

    Are my calculations right?

What are the relations between the 2 VCOs  listed in the BOM list  to the  2942.19Mhz ??

    Thanks in advance

  • Moshe,

on this forum, we focus on medical AFEs and TXs.

since this is a LMK EVM question, coudl you please post it at the clock timing group? the clock experts can help on this.

    Thanks!
