ADS1230: G=128

Hi team.

My customer need more detail spec about when G=128.

Could you tell me the MAX/TYP value of Gain Error and Gain Drift?

Sincerely.

Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

From looking at old characterization data the gain error and gain drift at 128 is very similar to 64, so the values shown in the electrical characteristics on page 3 of the ADS1230 datasheet would apply for both 64 and 128 as the PGA operation is the same for both.  You can also see the device trends in the graph of Figure 10 on page 8.

Note that the PGA itself is always at a gain of 64 and there is a gain of 1 or 2 that is applied at the input of the ADC.  See Figure 18 in the ADS1230 datasheet on page 10.  Unfortunately the ADS1230 does not have a maximum specification for gain error or gain drift.  If guaranteed performance is required, I would suggest having the customer look at the ADS1232.

    Best regards,

    Bob B
