ADS1298: component obsolescence

Part Number: ADS1298
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1296,

Hello,

I am currently working on new design for ECG medical instrument and I am interrested by ADS1298R and ADS1296 component but I am affraid to see that these components exist since 2010. the reasons of our new developpement is the obsolescence of electronic component of our current equipement. This is the reason why i d'like to confirm these components "production" status will not pass soon to a "not active state" ? Is there more recent equivalent components ?

Thank you !

  • Hello Grandyot,

To your question on the ADS129x longevity, I honestly don’t see us obsoleting this device anytime… Can’t tell, like with any other product, but this is a very popular device, so… Besides, TI has quite strict obsolescence policy too.

You can read more about our policy here…

    http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/quality/quality_policies_procedures/product_change_notification.page

We won’t consider obsoleting a part if even one person is buying it.  We typically have to see zero business for 2-3 years before we consider it, and then we inform customers and they have 12 months to buy parts.  It’s very generous policy.  We know customers will use some of these parts for 15-30+ years.

Please reach out to me at praveen.aroul@ti.com if you have any further questions.
