ADC124S021: Question about fSCLK (Maximum Clock Frequency).

Part Number: ADC124S021

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using ADC124S021 for their new products.

They have the following question about the device.

 Q. ADC124S021 uses SCLK as conversion clock. What is the minimum SCLK frequency if it is no problem to reduce sampling rate?

For example, if 25ksps is enough for the customer application, is it no problem to input 0.4MHz clock to SCLK?

Could you please give me your reply?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya.

  • Hello,

This device is specified to a sampling rate of 50ksps to 200ksps. if the customer is looking for a device that samples at 25ksps, then I suggest using a different device.

Though this device is operation to clock frequency of 50khz, it is only specified to 800khz, meaning the slowest clock rate is 800khz. Thus the slowest sampling rate this device should be used at is 50khz.

    Regards

    Cynthia

  •  Hello Cynthia,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Could I ask you a few additional questions as the follows?

Q1. Can ADC124S021 be used for just one time conversion (not continuous conversion)?

Q2. If the answer for Q1 is yes, does ADC124S021 need just 16 SCLK only

(SCLK is fixed to H level before conversion start timing and after conversion

finish timing like Figure 4 on page 7 of the device datasheet for one time conversion?

Thank you again and best regards,

     Kazuya,

  •  Hello Cyntina,

Could you take a look my question and please give me your reply?

     Thank you and best regards,
