What happens when I input 16 bit I2S into the SRC4192?

Hello,

sorry, that I didn't answer immediately, I was out for some months and i am now back on my work. The 16 bit I2S input to 24 bit r.j. output conversion works, but the sound in the end of the DAC is not satisfying. Could you by any chance do some testing to check if it is possible what I am doing or not? The data sheet just states 24 bit I2S input and I am still not sure if it works correctly with 16 bit I2S input.

Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Val,

It sounds like you have already confirmed that this is possible?

It's important to keep in mind though that16-bit data is only supported in right-justified formatting on the input. If you are going to use I2S you would want to make sure that your data is padded with 0's to create a 24-bit frame. Otherwise the device may not be associating all of the data with the correct channels.

    Best,

    Zak
