AFE5808AEVM: Register readout - AFE5808evm

Part Number: AFE5808AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5808

Hi TI Expert,

I'm working with AFE5808EVM board and I want to read from the registers to check that the configuration is correct. Previously, I have configured the board by writing values to registers.

Writing and reading of registers are carried out based on pages 44 and 45 of technical datasheet.

Using a logic analyzer in the test points, I can observe that the configuration (writing in registers) is correct but in the SDOUT output there is nothing.

Below I show an example of the frames:

To perform the reading, I first enable reading through pin 1 of register 0 and then I write the address of the register that I want to read.

Well, I only use the write function of the ftdi chip because I understand it. It would be good? Would I have to use the read function? What problem can I have?
To observe the reading I use the SDOUT test pin of the board. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

I would appreciate any help.

Tranks in advance.

  • Hi,

Could you tell where are you probing the SDOUT in the below figure,

If you're probing on JP18 and pin 1 & 2 of JP31 are shorted, there can be a possibility that both FTDI chip and AFE5808 be driving that particular pin. I recommend you to remove the Jumper on JP31 and probe pin 1 of JP31 to monitor SDOUT.

    Regards,

    Kalyan

  • Hi Kalyan,

    Thanks for your answer.

I have tried to monitor SDOUT on pin1 of JP31 but I get no information. I have tried all the possibilities. Pin 2 of JP18 with jumper on JP31 (1-2), the SDOUT test point TP34 of the AFE5808evm and previously I also tried your answer.

The result is that no information comes out of SDOUT. Attached capture of the analysis:

I don't know if the problem will be the delays although it shouldn't.

    Any more solutions?

    Thanks in advance.
