Dry contact electrode with ADS129x AFE

Hi, Is it possible to design a 2 lead dry electrode contact ECG monitoring system with ADS129x AFE?

Regards

Udhay

  • Hi Udhaya,

You cannot connect the ADS1x9xECG-FE directly to a patient. It lacks patient protection and is not an end solution. With the proper patient protection, a single lead (two electrode) or two lead (three electrode) ECG system can be designed.

  • Dear Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I understand your advice. I can add some protection circuit for the electrode contacts as advised by TI. But my question is can i replace the professional ECG electrode with a dry contact metal plate electrodes[Lead plated copper PCB trace or some metal plates]?

I already achieved this result by OPAMP design recommended by TI. But i am not much satisfied with the result. So i like to navigate to TI'S ECG-AFE

So by placing two thump over the electrode plates can we measure the ECG signal through ADS1x9x ECG-AFE?

    Udhay

  • Hi Udhaya,

With proper protection, copper plates can be used. We have people on the forum designing exactly that. There are posts explaining how to do single lead ECG with two electrodes without the need for a separate electrode for the RLD which you may find interesting.

  • Hi Tony,

Sorry to jump in on this conversation  but I would be very interested in these posts. We are trying to design a  single lead ECG with two electrodes without the need for a separate electrode for the RLD and would benefit from the discussion. Do you have the links?

    Thanks,
