Using TSW3100EVM with TSW30H84EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSW30H84EVM

I'm using the TSW3100EVM as a pattern generator and a TSW30H84EVM as an RF modulator. The software for both boards are installed on Windows XP and are functioning properly.

I've checked the TSW30H84EVM output by applying an LO signal (10dBm, 1GHz) into LOin1 input and connected the RFout1 to a spectrum analyzer and confirmed the LO signal was going through the output.

When I tried using the Multitone and CommSignal softwares for the TSW3100EVM to create a single tone output at a certain frequency (Gain = 1 or 10dB, @ 100MHz), I expected to see that output around 1GHz. This is just one of the several examples I've attempted.

My main question is, do I have to do something with the software for the TSW30H84EVM board in order for the whole system to work properly? The software works fine and I can see that on the computer screen, but in order to confirm the output of both boards (mainly the TSW3100EVM) do I need to change the settings or register values for the other board's software?

The manual provided an example for using them together but didn't specify changing anything under the TSW30H84EVM software. If I don't need to then it also might be a connection problem.

  • Angelica,

We no longer support the TSW3100 as that has been replaced by the TSW1400. The Pattern generators are not programmed to support the TSW3100 format and is targeted for use with the TSW14xx family along with HSDC Pro GUI. We can replace your TSW3100 with a TSW1400. I will take this offline and we can work on a repalcement for you. I will send you a separate message.

    Ken.
  • Hi,

Please also refer to section 3.4 of the user's guide (TSW308x User's Guide) for the configuration file used associated in the setup.
