Can anyone please explain the concept of cut off frequency in filter circuits? Please take simple RC LPF.How to derive its cut off frequency. When I checked in various books, they are saying like at cut off frequency, modulus of transfer function is equal to "1/square root (2)" and finding the equation of cut off frequency .May I know from where the" 1/square root (2)" term comes? Why "1/square root (2)" why to some other values like "1/square root (3)" etc.
