TSW1400EVM: connection to Dac3282

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

Hello,

I am trying to evaluate the DAC3282 using the TSW1400 board.  I am able to read a signal on the Spectrum Analyzer from the DAC3282 Evm board but am not getting a the High Speed Data Converter Program to output anything from the TSW 1400 to the DAC.  When I connect to the TSW1400 board all of the LED's turn on except for LED 3 and LED5.  Using an oscilloscope I do not find any digital input going into the DAC but noise.  The SRAM is seated correctly and there is a signal coming from the computer Input  through USB.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  • Hi David,

Someone on our apps team will get back with you shortly. Sorry for the delay.

    Ken.
  • Still no luck. Have you figured anything out? From what I can tell the DAC3282 board is working correctly but the TSW1400 appears to have an error. However the DAC3282 software has a flag marked for FIFO collision. Please let me know if you can help.
    Thanks
  • Hi David,

Sorry for late reply. I just received the DAC3282EVM today. I will look into the issue today.

  • I just replaced the DDR2 - SODIMM and the same error still occurs

  • I just replaced the entire TSW1400 and the error still occurs. Is the TSW1400 even compatible with the DAC3282? Also is the TSW1400 board operational with windows 7 (this is what I am currently running) because the most recent operating system I noticed on the documentation is Windows XP.
  • Hi David,

Sorry for late reply. Yes TSW1400 is compatible with DAC3282. Yes TSW1400 is also supported on windows 7. Can you please let me know what issue are you seeing?

    Regards,

    Neeraj

  • As mentioned above, the TSW1400 is not outputting anything from the J4 DAC interface even when the pattern in sent on High Speed Data Converter Pro.  USER_LED5 is also supposed to be on but it is off.  The datasheet says that when the light is on it "indicates that the DDR memory initialization is complete and the interface is ready to use."  Also when I use the program for the DAC3282 EVM software control there is a alarm set on FIFO Collision.  I have tried this on multiple computers including Windows XP and Windows 7 and even bought a second board to verify nothing was wrong with the hardware.  The DAC3282 will output a carrier signal to the spectrum analyzer but the TSW1400 does not have any data going to the DAC3282EVM board (using an oscilloscope I found the same results).  I have run version 4.7 and 4.5 of High Speed Data Converter Pro and neither were successful.  I even had other people read the manual and run the program just to make sure I was't missing something.  All of the voltage test points on the board are working correctly (including voltage to the DDR).  I have used several different test pattern files from the "Test Files" folder under High Speed Data Converter Pro.  None of these seem to fix the "issue I am seeing."  Can you please let me know what I am missing?

  • Do you know the of any common reasons that would cause either the FIFO collision alarm or the DDR memory to not be initialized?

We are hoping to test this Eval board for potential use of the DAC3282 in a future product line.

    Thanks

  • Hi David,

Sorry for late reply. I think the issue is with TSW1400 and DAC3282EVM connect at the same time to the PC. I have attached the ppt showing the complete setup process.

  • I have tested your example and the results are still the same.  all I can see is the carrier signal.  I attached a power point to show you my process and results.
