ADS8900BEVM-PDK: Modifying input signal frequency on the PSIEVM

Part Number: ADS8900BEVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8900B

Hi Team,

My customer is working with the ADS8900B EVM and is now doing evaluations and ran into a few questions. With the PSI-EVM, will it only offer a 2-kHz input signal? He's noticed that by changing the frequency, he was seeing a lot more noise in his signal. Are there any guidelines for modifying this - as in, does this require changing the jumper settings or modifying anything else on the board?

Thank you,

Jaime

  •  Hello Jaime

The PSI can provide other frequencies aside from a 2KHz signal, but there are settings on the board that need to be changed to accomplish this. The board is equipped with optimized 8th order filter for 2 KHz, this filter will need to be bypassed. This is probably why you are seeing an increase in noise when applying other frequencies.

To accomplish this, move both JP1 and JP3 to BP (bypass) setting. Note, that without the optimized filter, the performance will be slightly degraded.

The ADS8900B EVM Userguide has more information on the PSI

    Regards,
