DAC34SH84EVM: Power supply problem of DAC34SH84EVM

Part Number: DAC34SH84EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005, DAC34SH84

Hi,

I had been using DAC34SH84EVM properly without any defection. Recently I am back to test it and I got problem as below:

The DC power in is set 5.35 V, and its current is overlimited 0.14A??? And the voltage was dropping to 3.8V.

Is it the problem with the power supply or the chip? Do you have any idea what's going on here?

THank you.

L.

  • Long Hoang,

You may need to increase your power supply current limit. The DAC34Sh84 consumes about 1.8W at max operating speed, while the CDCE62005 consumes about 1.5W typically.

Your power supply of 5.35V at 0.14A limit is much less than the power consumption required by both the DAC and Clock distribution circuit.

You should also operate this in an ESD safe environment in case it is an ESD damage. If it is indeed ESD damage, it will be difficult to narrow down the exact damage area.

  • Hi Kang,
    I fixed the problem up.
    Thank you.
