Dear sir,

I am using DAC161S997EVM for Hart Modem. But it does not connect USB port.

It means that this is usually due to a required driver not being installed on the system.

But driver is installed successfully. Also I reinstall driver and GUI s/w.

What is the problem?

Hi Seo,

Are you trying to use two EVMs connected to the same computer? I have seen this error before when using DAC161S997 EVM with DAC8740H EVM when both are connected to the same computer. You mentioned the HART modem in your post so I am wondering if this is what you are trying. If you are trying to use the EVMs together you will need to connect them to separate computers.

Hi Satterfield,

As you say, I am using DAC8740H EVM with DAC161S997. But if you watch the last picture in my post, I only connected one port(COM6).

And I only tried to connect DAC161S997EVM and GUI program. Also I delete DAC8740H GUI program but same problem remains yet.

I think there is another problem.

Hi Seo,

Have you connected Loop+ and Loop- to a power supply? On this EVM the DAC is powered from the loop. If no power supply is connected it will still show up as a COM port but will give errors when you launch the GUI software.

Also, what version of Windows are you running the software on?

Hi Satterfield,

I try to connect Loop+ and Loop- with 24Vdc. But I can't find the the port.

I check the voltage of U5, U2, U1 and everything is normal.

I'm running the software on Windows 7.

Hi Seo,

It looks like there is an issue with the NI-VISA driver. This should be installed automatically with the DAC161S997 EVM software. One thing you can try is disabling driver signature enforcement in windows and reinstalling the EVM software. Windows may be blocking the driver if it is unsigned. You can also try downloading a directly installing NI_VISA driver. Here is the link to the driver http://www.ni.com/download/ni-visa-17.0/6646/en/ .
