DAC8411: Vcc=5V with 3.3V SPI interface MCU

Part Number: DAC8411
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC80501

Hi,

Our customer is considering using DAC8411 @ Vcc = 5V with a 3.3V MCU. But in DS SPEC it seems impossible.
Is it really not possible without level shift?
In general, 3.3V input should be acceptable even with 5V supply.

Best regards,
Hiroshi

  • Hi Hiroshi-san,

Thank you for your query. The DAC8411 is a bit old part. It's doesn't support TTL IO levels. You can look at DAC80501, which is of similar or better specs. It supports 3.3V IO levels.

Hope that answers your question. Let me know if you have any other requirements.

  • Hi Uttam san,

Our customers were looking for 16-bit DACs in small packages.
I think that it is good information that WSON is added to DAC80501.

    Thank you.
