ADS1278-HT: common SCLK and CLK

Part Number: ADS1278-HT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278

I'm running a slow  high precision ADC system, the sample rate is 400Hz and the target resolution is 16 bits. There's two ADS1278 daisy chained together

The issue i have is the processor is on a different board, i have a frame sync interface i turn into a differential interface then back to single ended whilst passing between the two boards (approximately 40cm of cable), SCLK is running at 1MHz

what i'd like to know is there an issue in commoning up the SCLK and the CLK pins to both run off 1MHz clock my off-board processor is supplying? (i'm very short on space so would like to avoid a local clock source to the ADC)

A second question is around synchronisation - start up time isn't important, could i drive the sync pin from a RC filter and the power rail to hold it low at start up? or is it necessary to have a fast edge?

Kind Regards

Martin
