DAC80508: DAC80508_no output voltage

Part Number: DAC80508
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC80504,

Hello!

I used DAC80504 for one of my project is it was working just fine. In this new project I need more channel that is why I chose "same" component with more channels.

Since I could use DAC80504 wihtout any problem and it should be same same so i am assuming I am doing right thing however there is something extra I need to do and I am missing that.

With this new DAC (DAC80508) I can turn on and off the internal reference. But no matter what I write on any channel output the voltage is till 0V.

I am sending the data as 8-bits packages and start with configuring of the GAIN register as (0x04 0x01 0xFF)

Then I write for example to the channel_0 the same way (the first 8-bits 0x08 and then the data in two 8-bits sets).

This communication works perfectly on the DAC80504. I am suspecting that I need to use other registers like SYNC or something else or the output needs a trigger that need to configured through some registers?

Thanks!

  • Hi Fatemeh,

    The device should by in asynchronous mode by default, so you should not need to configure that register.  Do you have readback capability? Can you read back the device ID? This tells us if the device is on.

    Can you read the status register? Do you have a REF-ALARM?

    Also, please post your schematic and verify your supply voltages.  What are you using for VIO and VDD?

    Thanks,
    Paul;
