TSW14J10EVM: Can the TSW14J10 be used with non-Xilinx Kintex-7 boards?

Part Number: TSW14J10EVM

Hi Team,

I would like to use TSW14J10 to connect the ADC to Kintex-7 for analog video signal processing, but the connection destination board is not a Xilinx KC705. The Kintex-7 board is TB-7K-325T-IMG made by Tokyo Electron Device and has FMC connector. Can I use the TSW14J10 in this case?

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • Tom,

What ADC board do you plan on using this with? You will need to verify the signals used between the FPGA and the ADC board are routed. You will have to look at the schematic of all three boards and verify this.

  • Jim,

My name is Hayato Koizumi and I asked Tom.

I am thinking of using ADC34J25EVM.

As far as I can see the schematics, the ADC board (ADC34H25EVM) and the FPGA board (TB-7K-325T-IMG) could be connected to the TSW14J10EVM, but the product page only said it supported Xilinx KC705, ZC706 and VC707, so I asked Tom if it was supported for anything else.

    Best Regards,

    Hayato Koizumi

  • Hayato,

If you plan on using the TI GUI, HSDC Pro GUI, the TSW14J10EVM, was required to be used with these platforms called out. If you want to use the TI HSDC Pro GUI with the TB-7K-325T board, there is source code found under the TSW14J10EVM product folder on the TI website that could possibly be recompiled to target the TB-7K-325T-IMG board. But, since this firmware is very old, this may be a bit of a challenge.

If you do not plan on using HSDC Pro GUI, the ADC34J25EVM should plug directly into the FMC connector on the TB-7K-325T-IMG platform and work assuming the FMC on the TB-7K-325T-IMG followed the VITA FMC standard. You could then use one of the TI reference designs for an example or go to the Xilinx website and get example source code as well to use as a starting point.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Jim,

I'm not particularly concerned about the HSDC Pro GUI, so I use the ADC with a direct connection using FMC.  Thank you for your response.
