DAC38RF82EVM: Issue with DAC38RF82EVM GUI, when connected with DAC38RF82EVM.

Part Number: DAC38RF82EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38RF82

Hi,

Facing issue with DAC38RF82EVM GUI. When GUI is in "Simulation mode" then it is working perfectly but when we connect it to hardware, it is not working as expected.

e.g. In Simulation Mode, Value for LMK04828--> Clock outputs--> Clkout0 and 1 (FPGA clock and SYSREF)--> DCLK Divider =1, when we connect it to hardware DCLK Divider value is changed to 32 from 1.

same goes for other fields values.

Please refer the below attached GUI screenshots PPT for more details.

  • Hi,

Could you please make sure the EVM is properly powered up? This looks like the SPI is reading back all zeros. Please ensure you have good USB connection and proper power supply connections.

  • Hi Kang Hsia,

Issue is still exist. I have check that USB connection and power supply is all good. D11 PWR LED on EVM is also ON.

I have supplied power to DAC EVM from Agilent power supply. After Power Supply turned ON, we are observed that voltage is  5V and current is 1.01A.

  • Hi,

We have one more DAC38RF82EVM board and we have also observed same above issue with it also. Both boards are newly purchased from TI Store.

  • Imran,

Please see attached document for trouble-shooting help with this issue. Make sure all of the shunts are connected on J23. You can use this connector as well to verify if the SPI signals are toggling if you have an oscilloscopeBoard trouble shooting.pptx

  • Hi Jim, Kang Hsia,

Issue got resolved. I was not clicking on "DAC RESETB Pin" and "LOAD DEFAULTS"  button. After following below steps issue got resolved.

    1. Click on "DAC RESETB Pin".

    2. Click on "LOAD DEFAULTS".

    3. After this, i have changed the DAC CLOCK FREQUENCY, # of DAC, # of IQ Pairs per DAC, Desired interpolation as per my requirement.

Note: If we do not click on "DAC RESETB Pin" and "LOAD DEFAULTS" and if we directly change parameter in step 3, then we will face the above mentined issue.

    Thanks,

    Imran
