4 playback sound channels codec with McASP on AM335x

Hi Jianhua,

If you are looking for devices with Linux drivers you can search the TI.com search for Linux driver. On the right you will find a list of analog devices which have Linux drivers (www.ti.com/.../universalsearch.tsp. On this list you can find the PCM1681, PCM179X family, PCM512X family, and the PCM3168. These are possible choices for a 4 channel DAC, but please take a look at the devices listed.

      Now I choose the TLV320AIC3106,it is a 2-chanel codec.

        I have the following questions:

       1)I use  I2S interface,and choose the slave mode which the word clock(WCLK) and  the bit clock(BCLK) are as input, may  MCLK (master clock input) be input by other clock source,which is not synchronous with WCLK and BCLK?

       2) I use MIC3R (pin 14) and MIC3L(pin 11) as two channel input by 3.5mm JACK,are there any reference for detecting if a plug has been inserted into the JACK?

If I use the TLV320AIC34 as the 4-channel codec,I have read the TLV320AIC34 datasheet,It seems to have two blocks.Are the A and B the same for HW and SW,and which linux driver I can choose for each block,or anything else?

The TLV320AIC34 uses different I2C addresses for each block, please take a look at this section of datasheet:

Thank you for your reply,I saw the github.com/.../tlv320aic3x.c,which shows "The AIC3X is a driver for a low power stereo audio codecs aic31, aic32, aic33." on line 14-15, is the driver code tlv320aic3x.c full compatible each block on tlv320aic34,or I should check it in detail with the aic34 datasheet?

Since we are not supporting the linux drivers, I cannot guarantee it. However, I would recommend to check in detail with the AIC34 to be sure.
