support request - PCM1803A

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1803A, PCM1802
Hi,

My question concerns the PCM1803a :
The delta-sigma modulator is 1-bit or n-bit ?
What is the order of the modulator ?
Can we see some spikes (idle tone) in the noise floor ?

For the PCM1802, I find this in the datasheet :
The high-order delta-sigma modulation randomizes the modulator outputs and reduces the idle tone level.

PCM1802
PCM1803a
The delta-sigma modulator
1-bit
?
The order of the modulator
5
?
Idle tone
reduces level by The high-order delta-sigma modulation
?

  • Hi, Christophe,

Welcome to E2E, Thanks for your interest in our products!.

We need to consult with our team for the internal structure of the ΔΣ-modulator in the PCM1803A. We will get back to you as soon as we get any information.

  • Hi, Christophe,

We have some updates, unfortunately we have limited data on the PCM1803A, so we were not able to track down the details on the modulator. We have found that the PCM1803A is an improved version of the PCM1802, so the performance of the PCM1803A will be better.

  • Hi Diego,

    Thank you for your reply.

If the ΔΣ-modulator in the PCM1803A is an improved version of the PCM1802, the order of the modulator is 5 or n bit (n>1) to avoid idles tones?

    Best regards,

    Christophe Courté
  • Hi, Christophe,

The modulator of the PCM1803A was developed to improve overall performance (including idle tones) of the PCM1802. We don't have the exact ΔΣ-modulator order information, but we can guarantee that the performance of the PCM1803A will be better than the PCM1802.
