TLV320AIC3109-Q1: EVM Software Installation

Part Number: TLV320AIC3109-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3109EVM-K

Hi Team,

I am trying to get up and running with the TLV320AIC3109-Q1 EVM and am having a bit of an issue with the software.

Following the EVM User's Guide, I performed every step of section 3.1.

In section 3.2, after plugging in the EVM, I get stuck at Step 4. An initialization process never begins one I connect the EVM to my PC. Therefore, D2 never lights up for me.

I then followed step 5, and even went as far as looking at the Troubleshooting Guide. In section 3.2 of the troubleshooting guide, point 2(a) says that there should be a file in my C: drive (NiViUsbK.sys), but that file is not present.

If you can please advise to get the EVM up and running, that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Jared,

What version of windows are you using?  I assume you've installed the TLV320AIC310x GUI?

    a few things to check:

Check that the USBMODEVM and the TLV320AIC3109EVM-k are properly connected.

We did have some issues with the USBMODEVM jumper placements,  so make sure that JMP5, JMP6 and JMP7 are all in the proper place.

    jmp5: 2-3

    JMP6: 1-2

    JMP7: 1-2

let me know on these things and we'll go to the next step.

    best regards,

  • Hi Steve Wilson,

I am using Windows 7. I downloaded the EVM GUI, unzipped the file, and ran the executable. Then I went into the file folder AIC310x and ran the executable in that folder. The GUI pops up, but says to plug in USB. When I plug in the board, I do not get D2 to light up.

All the jumpers are configured correctly. There are connected exactly like what is shown on page 5 of the EVM users guide.

I am fairly confident this is a drivers issue since the USB connection is where the problem is. Any info I can provide you on that so you can point me in the right direction?

    Thank you,
    Jared
  • Jared,

Please take a look at the following link and follow the instructions there to see if that helps.  If that doesn't work we may just need to reinstall the firmware on the EVM.
