CC3200: Connecting to Micro USB and an External Battery

Part Number: CC3200

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to connect my CC3200 to a microusb (to show communication between the CC3200 and a terminal on the computer but now power the board) and an external battery pack that would power the board. I understand I can remove the jumper at J13 that is associated with board power, however, that prevents the board from being powered by both the microusb and external battery.

Thanks in advance,

Brittany

  • Hi Brittany,

    This is possible.

What you would do is connect a 3.3V power source to VCC on J20, as well as ground somewhere, and then remove J13, the EMU PWR to BRD PWR jumper.

This makes the CC3200 powered from your external 3.3V battery, while the USB->Serial emulator is powered from USB.

    Regards,
    Michael
