ADS1292ECG-FE demo kit installation problem with error code 8 Create Folder in ADS1x9xEVM_Main.vi

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292ECG-FE

Hello: I purchased the ADS1292ECG-FE kit and am having problems with an error when I start the software. I have the COM6 port recognizing the board and the driver is working ok according to my Windows7 Device Manager properties. When I start the software I get the following error:

"An error occured with error code 8

Create Folder in ADS1x9xEVM_Main.vi<APPEND>

C:\Program Filex (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADS1x9xevm\saved."

I have been reloading and uninstalling and trying all the basic fixes but still get this error. Do you have a fix for me? This must be a known error. Is there somewhere I can read up on solutions?

Thanks for any help you may offer. It would be fun to get this working!

Best,

Larry

  • Hi Larry,

My apologies for the delay here - have you been able to resolve this issue?  I've not seen this myself, but the errors we have seen reported are usually based on some 'administrative rights' type problems.  Do you have full admin rights on the computer you were/are using for the ADS1x9xEVM software?

  • I am having the same problem with exactly the same error message.

  • Hi Jess:
I could not get it to work from Windows 7. I have an older computer with XP on it and it works just fine with XP. Windows 7 has a utility that allows you to run in an XP mode and you can search around for it on the Microsoft Site and get it working. It did not appear to be an issue with "administrative rights" but rather that a library file of some kinds was missing. My understanding from a few hours research was that using the XP with the ServicePack2 would fix it. When I got my old Dell working with XP it ran the software and the program runs very nicely with impressive functionality demonsrtating the ad1292R, but it is a shame that it does not run on Windows 7 directly. This just makes the experience painful.
    Good luck.

  • Hi Larry,

I just tried installing the Evaluation Software on my own laptop, running Windows 7 64-bit and noticed the same error message:

Are you running a 64-bit version of Windows 7 as well? I'm not sure if this is the root cause of the error, but I've run into similar issues in the past. It's worth looking into, I'll let you know what I find!

     Regards,

  • Larry,

It appears that I have found a solution. What it boils down to is that, when this Error Code 8 message appears, the GUI is attempting to access a folder called "saved" in the directory you see in the message box. If that folder does not exist, it tries to create it. However, in Windows 7, the program does not have permission to do this on its own.

To fix the issue, I simply created an empty folder at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\ADS1x9xevm" and named it "saved."

Give this a try and let us know if you have any problems. Thank you for your patience!

    Regards,
