ADS7953: Any way to reset the QFN version, besides removing power?

Part Number: ADS7953

Hello,

On the QFN package of ADS7953, is there any way to reset the device aside from removing and reapplying power?

I had an instance of the ADS7953 locking up, and did not see any way to reset it.

I see the TSSOP adds a GPIO3 pin with "power down" functionality. Does this just put the device in a low-power mode, retaining the settings, or is it a lower-level reset that might let me recover from a lockup without toggling power?

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

The device can be powered down in the following two ways

    1) Setting DI5 = 1 in the mode control bits. (Available in QFN and TSSOP)
    2) Configuring GPIO3 as power down (Available in TSSOP)

Powering down a device will reset the program registers.
If the device was not configured properly due to program registers, one of the above two methods will help.

Could you please share what do you observe when the device is "locked up"?

    Thanks.
  • Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the quick reply, and glad to hear the DI05 power down is a lower level reset than I initially thought.

The lockup seemed to be caused by an unanticipated excessive voltage spike on the ADC inputs, not something during normal operation. I don't have any other details at this time, but will let you know if the DI05 power cycle does not resolve the issue.
