LVDS video converter

Dear Sir,

I have two LVDS channel (one for odd pixel and second for even pixel). I want to add these channel and drive an LCD with single channel LVDS.

Any suggestion.

Regards

Gaurav

  • Gaurav,

Are you using DSI or any other protocols to transmit your video? What protocol is needed on the output?

  • This is not a simple problem to solve, and depends a lot on the specific video source resolution/frame rate and the target LCD capabilities.

If you do not have control over the source video resolution and frame rate then you may need a frame buffer scaler/frame rate converter.

Typically an LCD panel will have a very specific resolution and frame rate it requires, and will not have a scaler/frame rate converter integrated (this is a main distinction between a discrete LCD panel and, say, a monitor/TV).

Given that your LCD panel is single channel LVDS I anticipate it has a resolution of 1400x1200 or lower (typically an upper limit for single channel LVDS)

Given that your source is dual channel LVDS I anticipate it has a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher, which usually requires dual channel LVDS.

If you can reduce the source resolution to match the requirements of the LCD panel then you might be able to get away with a fairly simple dual channel to single channel conversion process (still would likely require 2 devices such as a de-serializer and a re-serializer).

If you cannot make the source resolution/frame rate match the LCD panel requirements then you will need some form or scaler/frame rate converted, which is not typically a simple, single chip solution.

  • Dear Sir,

There are two LVDS source. On one channel odd pixels are coming and at the second channel even pixels are coming. Half the LCD resolution is coming at one channel and half the resolution is coming at second channel.

LCD resolution is the sum of both the LVDS source channel resolutions. LCD resolution is lower than 1024x768 pixels.

I simply want to add odd and even channel and make it single LVDS channel. Can you suggest any solution which can combine Odd and Even channel.

    Regards

    Gaurav

  • We wanted to drive LCD. This LCD is having single channel LVDS interface. Our source video is coming as odd pixel on one LVDS channel and even pixel on second LVDS channel.
  • I understand the interleaved LVDS. You still must make sure that the source and LCD panel resolution match exactly.

What is the source video format coming from your LVDS transmitter (one reasonable way to measure this is to measure the LVDS clock frequency with an oscilloscope).

What is the model number for the LCD panel?
