CAN XDS100V2 use FT2232D ?

I want make a board that can switch between XDS100V1 and XDS100V2.

But I find XDS100V1 use ft2232C, and XDS100V2 use ft2232H, So I want to change the ft2232H to ft2232D.

Can I?

thanks.

  • Hi,

Although both parts are functionally similar, replacing the XDS100v2 FTDI device is not recommended as it will inflict some performance penalty to the debugging process (apart from the possibility of having existing device driver compatibility issues).

That said, what is the exact reason to have v1 and v2 functionality? The XDS100v2 supersedes the XDS100v1 both in number of devices supported, performance and features. In this case you can simply have a v2 emulator withouth the need to switch.

  • As Rafael states we really recommend that people just design in the XDS100v2.  The only benefit of the v1 is CCSv3.3 compatibility which is quite old.

  • Thanks.

In china, Most Engineers work base on CCSv3.3. A part of them work on CCSv4. So they want a emulator  both working on CCSv3.3 and CCSv4, and the emulator's price is not hight. So I want to make a emulator compatibility CCSv3.3.

I know Blackhawk has a model D version of XDS100v2 which can be configured to work as a v1 or v2 product. They provide a utility to re-program the device to act as a xds100v1, so the same product can be used with both CCS3.3 and CCS4. The firmware update utilities can be found on their Blackhawk XDS100 Support Page.

So I need a similar solution, Can you help me?

  • Hi,

The USB100v2 model D from Blackhawk uses the XDS100v2 design, therefore the FT2232H device.

Sorry, we don't support modifications to the original XDS100 designs - they are posted for reference and people are free to build their own or modify it at their own risk.
