an error has occurred. see the log file

i installed ccs v5 by offline installer, downloaded from the ti website and started for the first time. this message showed up  "an error has occurred. see the log file: "

each time , run the program, it show same error but a different log file. i think it isn't installed properly, because while installing it says "IOexception invalid byte 1 of 1-byte UTF-8 sequence" then installation ends.

i tried many times, different directories, but the result is the same.

anyone can help?

  • Hi Hasan,

could you please send the error log and the contents of your installjammer registry directory (under Program Files or Program Files(x86))?  These will help us to debug this issue.

What OS are you using? Is it non english?

Did you have the zip file or any install directory in a directory with accented/special characters?  Even the zip file and installer should not be put into such directories.

Did you fully unzip the file before installing?

    Best Regards,
    LIsa

  • Hi Hasan,

ok, let us see if we can digest the logs here.   If you did use a directory with special characters at all.  Please move the zip file and unzip and install to directories with no special or accented characters.

As soon as there is feedback we will let you know.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • ok i'll do that

    thank you.

  • Hi Hasan,

I can see in the logs you did indeed use a directory (unzipped the installer there) with accented characters.  Please move, unzip and install all in directories with no accented or special characters.  Eg e:\ti or e:\ccsinstaller.

Do this and I suspect your issue will go away.  This is a know problem with both various eclipse and ccs features unfortunately.

Keep us informed how it goes.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • hi Lisa,

i did as you suggest and for now the installation goes well, i think that solved the problem.

    thank you for your help.

  • Hi Hasan,

I am very glad to hear.   We are hoping to work in at least a catch/error message for this type of situation.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Related, but different cause, so here is for those of you who stumbled on this post like me:

I had the same error message after CCS  5.2.1.00018 crashed while loading data to my EVM6657. It also referred to an error log, which was full of uncaught exceptions error messages.....  I suspect some value in a config file got messed up and CCS ended in an unknown state.

My solution was to close ccs (I had to use the taskmanager and kill ccs.exe manually) and rename the workspace directory. Now CCS started again and I could copy/paste back my projects.

    Cheers,
    Dirk
